    High School Custodian 2nd Shift 12-Months (3-Positions)
    Department: Facilities and Grounds
    Building: Highland Park High School
    Reports To: Building Manager and District Supervisor
    Hours: Monday thru Friday 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (1st shift during summer months)
    Starting Pay: $19.50/hr ($300/Year Pay Premium)
    Start Date: Immediate

    SUMMARY:
    The person in this position will be responsible for the district’s school buildings and keeping them in a state of operating excellence! The buildings will be presented with no safety issues, problems, or interruptions to the educational program.
    COVID-19 vaccinations are required for all faculty and staff at Township High School District 113. As a result, the Board of Education voted to pass a resolution requiring all District 113 employees to get a booster to the COVID-19 vaccination. All District 113 employees must provide proof; however, employees may request a medical or religious exemption through Human Resources.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
    • Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc. in the building.
    • Maintains building and grounds security in the building each school day.
    • Restocks disposable items and provides head custodian with inventory usage and data.
    • Assists in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow, lawn).
    • Assist the visiting public who utilize the facilities by providing directions within the building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment
    • Other duties as assigned.
    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
    High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    The ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. The ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
    REASONING ABILITY:
    The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. The ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee continuously uses hand strength to grip tools and climbs onto ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
    The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails, and unloading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs such as salt and bulk furniture.
    The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
