Do you have sailing experience and a desire to teach others? Join Cary's team at Bond Park as a Sailing Instructor!
This position will support the sailing program at Bond Park by providing instruction for a range of classes to include basic sailing technique, boat set-up, rescues, boat anatomy, and safety. Sailing Instructors will teach both group and individual classes for students of all ages.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. The schedule will include summer boating camps and monthly weekend programs. Hours will vary depending upon class schedules.
Knowledge and understanding of the safety and fundamentals of sailing on flat water; excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with the public; physical ability to prepare craft for lessons, perform relevant skills, and perform rescues; ability to work outside in typical inclement weather, such as summer heat or rain showers; ability to engage with the public in a firm but tactful manner; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the facility, division and department.
Must be at least 16 years old.
Requires some experience teaching sailing in a group setting.
American Sailing Association certification preferred.
CPR and/or First Aid certification preferred (training provided)
Requires drug testing and a background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
