This role will design, develop and execute more complex functional tests cases and scenarios for new and/or modified software programs, procedures, and utilities according to requirements and conformed to established guidelines. Supports planning, design, and execution of system tests on simple to complex implementations.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes test results identifies and documents defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, online screens, requirements and content. 
  • Assists programmers in resolutions to any problems through defining problems, collecting data to support problems, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. 
  • Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
  • Determine testing requirements to develop test cases and scripts for positive and negative test scenarios and prioritize test cases and conditions. 
  • Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management.
  • Map functional design elements to rule sets and tests for test case creation.
  • Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
  • Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
  • Perform functional and exploratory testing, analysis, and documenting of results.
  • Adept at using both manual and automated testing tools to troubleshoot systems, integration, user acceptance, positive and negative, functionality, object, and regression. 
  • Effectively communicates the details of problems, issues, or concerns in a timely manner. 
  • Responds to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operation of software programs in a timely manner. 
  • Prioritizes and manages time effectively to achieve optimal results and meet pre-established deadlines. 
  • Installs new or modified program changes into a test and production (live) system for use by testers, user acceptance groups, internal and external customers. 
  • Assists users to isolate possible problems in software after implementation. 
  • Contributes to establishment of standards and procedures for processing. 
  • Analyze data and processes to establish quality control measures.
  • Establishes benchmarks for program efficiency in operation and response time. 
  • Various other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of web applications, network structure and PC applications.
  • Must have experience with manual testing and basic automated testing.
  • Must have working knowledge of Automated Software Quality Assurance software.
  • Must be knowledgeable of test methodologies and processes.
  • Must have experience with testing user interfaces, databases, web browsers and client applications.
  • Must have knowledge of software development life cycle as well as the testing life cycle.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be very detail oriented to provide quality results.
  • Demonstrated career commitment to testing and quality assurance.
  • Must have excellent teamwork skills and a positive outlook.
  • Must have strong decision-making skills.
  • Must have strong time management skills, planning and organizational skills.
  • Must have an intermediate knowledge and understanding of Property and Casualty Insurance.

  • ISTQB - Certified Tester Foundational Level
