This role is responsible for documenting and executing test cases during the testing phase of the software development lifecycle to evaluate functionality of new and/or modified software programs, procedures and utilities used to verify that projects, enhancements, or bugs as documented in defined requirements and meets end user’s expectations. 

Requirements

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to understand property and casualty business documents, business requirements, technical and procedural instructions and procedure manuals and uses these documents to develop detailed test plans and test cases. 
  • Design and document detailed test plans, test cases, test data traceability matrix for verifying and validating business functionality based on requirements.
  • Analyze test data and test results to assess basic risks and develop positive and negative test scenarios. 
  • Analyzes test results, identifies, and documents defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, online screens, requirements and content. 
  • Collaborate with QA Lead on creation of test strategy and test effort estimations.
  • Execute test cases during scheduled system testing phase and as needed for production issue validation.
  • Identify and document defects with detail, accuracy, and conciseness while ensuring defect reproduction.
  • Interact cohesively in a team environment consisting of Project Managers, Business Analyst, Help Desk, Developers and Business Users. 
  • Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with time-sensitive deadlines. 
  • Familiarity of the underlying architecture of a multi-tier browser-based application is required, including operating systems, servers, networking, clients, and browsers.
  • Assists programmers in resolutions to any problems through defining problems, collecting data to support problems, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. 
  • Effectively communicates the details of problems, issues or concerns in a timely manner. 
  • Responds to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operation of software programs in a timely manner. 
  • Prioritizes and manages time effectively to achieve optimal results and meet pre-established deadlines.
  • Install new or modified program changes into a test environment for use by testers and user acceptance groups.
  • Assists users to isolate possible problems in software after implementation. 
  • Various other duties as assigned.

  • Must have working knowledge of web applications, network structure and PC applications.
  • Must have experience with manual testing and familiarity with automated testing.
  • Must be familiar with test methodologies and processes.
  • Must have experience with testing user interfaces.
  • Must be familiar with the software development life cycle as well as the testing life cycle.
  • Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented to provide quality results.
  • Demonstrated career commitment to testing and quality assurance.
  • Must have excellent teamwork skills and a positive outlook.
  • Must have good decision-making skills.
  • Must have good time management skills, planning and organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Property and Casualty Insurance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Associate degree (A. A.) or higher or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
