Torch Technologies, an employee-owned defense contractor, is looking for skilled Software Engineers with a range of experience levels to join a highly capable team tackling aircraft survivability equipment (ASE) challenges in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, technical capabilities, and a record of accomplishments working with ASE systems and aviation platforms.

This position is in anticipation of a contract award with the ASE program office.

Job Activities

• Participate in the development, installation, checkout, and maintenance of ASE software development environments, test bed equipment, and associated software.
• Develop and analyze software requirements, design software, code, unit/integration tests, and conduct software test programs (FQTs, SITs, SPTs, and DVTs, etc.) tailored for specific ASE projects.
• Conduct root cause analysis of HW, SW, and algorithms to support defect correction and performance improvements.
• Assess algorithms and software designs for requirements compliance, regulatory conformance, and adherence to program standards and development best practices.
• Support ASE lifecycle software engineering, including development, evaluations, prototyping, testing, and maintenance. Perform software analysis, configuration audits, and reviews. Engage in studies, independent analyses, and novel/alternative solutions to engineering problems.
• Participate in lifecycle support of ASE hardware and software support tools and their associated environments. Assess software designs for supportability and interoperability. Perform software demonstrations as required. Provide input to software lifecycle documentation, plans, databases, and development materials.
• Conduct metric-based software process assessments, improvements, planning, and documentation.
• Manage and participate in software CCBs and Software Requirements Boards and provide input regarding impact of proposed design changes to ASE products.

Desired Technical Expertise

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. 8 or more years of applicable progressively complex software design engineering experience.
• Software engineering expertise for ASE development and integration, including software and mission systems risk reduction, software and architecture planning, and strategy.
• System and software engineering aspects of threat assessments, development & analysis of system/software requirements, development & analysis of system/software design, HW/SW architecture reviews, and tracing of system requirements throughout the software development process.
• Automated Test Equipment (ATE), Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) and automated data acquisition systems, including concepts, techniques, data, and implementation.
• Software quality management programs based on ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9000-2000
