TMPW for Peoplescout for Children's National Hospital is Hiring a Respiratory Care Practitioner Level II Near Washington, DC

Under general direction of the department manager , according to departmental and hospital standards, the Respiratory Care Practitioner, referred to as RCP-II, is responsible for administering all levels of Respiratory Care to treat patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction and/or disabilities. RCP-II will function to the level that is usual and customary for Acute Care, ER, and Critical Care (either PICU or NICU) competency and orientation. The RCP-II will maintain all skills and knowledge sufficient to provide safe, effective, and appropriate care to all ages of patients including neonates, infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults.

Night Shift - 7P to 7A

$20K sign-on bonus for those that qualify

Qualifications:

Minimum Education
Associate's Degree Completion of a minimum two years of college training in an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
3 years (Required)
1 year Critical care environment (pediatric or adult). (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Membership:
  • Active member of the American Association of Respiratory Care.
  • Clinical Competency:
  • Demonstrate competency in acute care, ER, and ICU within the first 90 days.
  • Independently administer general Respiratory Therapy procedures.
  • Ventilator Management:
  • Exhibit intermediate mechanical ventilator management skills, including Nitric Oxide, Heliox, and HFOV.
  • Emergency Procedures:
  • Perform CPR as needed.
  • Conduct invasive and noninvasive monitoring and diagnostic procedures.
  • Multifaceted Experience:
  • Work independently in ER, Acute Care, and PICU/NICU (minimum 10 shifts/year in each area).
  • Sustain proficiency through department rotation schedule.
  • Adherence to Policies:
  • Follow policies and procedures of Respiratory Care Services and Children’s National Health System.
  • Communication and Organization:
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Organize, establish priorities, and perform under stressful situations.
  • Patient-Centered Approach:
  • Demonstrate compassion and a patient-centered orientation with patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Perform mathematical calculations.
  • Maintain clinical skills, continuing education credits, and required certifications.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform all treatment modalities.
  • Lift up to 50lbs, endure extended periods of standing and walking.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Annual Review:
  • Credentials and proficiency assessed during annual review to maintain RCP-II Level status.

Registered Respiratory Therapist (Required)
RCP License from District of Columbia DOH Health Regulation and Licensing Administration (Required)Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) (Required)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Required)
