    Reports to: Executive Director of Human Resources
    Position summary: Assist the Executive Director of Human Resources with employee benefits management, employee onboarding, and reporting requirements.
    Position responsibilities:
    • Assist incoming employees with pre-employment paperwork
    • Process employee leave requests (FMLA, Parent/Child Rearing, Extended Illness, etc.)
    • Process employee insurance enrollments and changes
    • Collect workers compensation claim information and submit claims to work comp carrier
    • Complete verification of employment requests for current and previous employees
    • Greet and direct job applicants, employees, independent contractors, and volunteers
    • Answer communications from staff, applicants, and volunteers (e-mails, phone calls, letters)
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly personnel reports for Board of Education
    • Assist in the tracking of educator licensure and performance evaluations for preparation of the annual Sequence of Honorable Dismissal List
    • Maintain and organize active and terminated employee personnel records
    • Assist in the distribution and collection of annual open enrollment forms
    • Prepare and follow up on workshop/conference requests and vendor contracts
    • Maintain accurate data and assist in the preparation of Federal and Illinois reports
    • Prepare purchase requisitions for department materials and keep records of same
    • Prepare correspondence, brochures, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations
    • Collect biometric fingerprints and submit criminal background checks for employment candidates, volunteers, consultants, and student teachers
    • Verify past employment and check references for incoming employees
    • Other duties as assigned
    Essential skills and experience:
    • Associate’s degree or equivalent college coursework
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of office machines/equipment
    • Must be discreet and maintain strict confidentiality on employee matters
    • Must be able to work independently
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Detail-oriented
    • Ability to prioritize
    Valued but not required skills and experience:
    • Ability to learn new HRIS and other software
    • Familiar with Federal and Illinois employment law
    • Experience working in a high school setting
    • Experience working with confidential information
    • One year of human resources experience

    • Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
    Terms of Employment:
    • 12-month work year;
    • Starting salary between $50,000 and $55,000, based on education and verified experience
    • Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension
