Purpose of Role
The Assistant Controller shares responsibility for all Company operational accounting, internal and external financial reporting and internal controls for company and its wholly owned subsidiaries. This position shares all day-to-day operational accounting responsibilities including leading and managing the accounting department, the calculation of financially significant accounting estimates, month end close, accounting for acquisitions and other unusual transactions. The right candidate should have significant experience with the preparation and review of SEC quarterly and annual reports. This position involves significant communication with the leadership team regarding financial results, key assumptions, estimates, and other financial issues. In that regard, the Assistant Controller must possess excellent communication and partnering skills in addition to tactical knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley.
Specific Job Description

• Responsible for the general accounting for company and its wholly owned subsidiaries. Principal deliverable is providing prompt, reliable and accurate financial reports each month. Prompt and accurate account reconciliations supporting balances and production of well-organized audit support are integral to this function. 
• Responsible for preparing financial analyses, both in terms of reviewing and presenting explanations for variances to budget and analyzing specific issues / opportunities. 
• Design, implementation and monitoring of internal control processes for both finance and non-finance business processes and rapid communication and action to address areas of weakness to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
• Involved in the planning, preparation and/or review of external financial statements and monthly internal financial statements.
• Assists in managing the external audit of company.
• External reporting includes but are not limited to the following: the 10-Q (quarterly), the 10-K (annually) and financial statement schedules for the earnings release (quarterly).
• Identifies, researches and interprets new and existing accounting standards (issued by the SEC, FASB, etc.) in order to assess the impact on the Company’s financial reporting and accounting, provides recommendations regarding these issues to senior management and, in certain instances, implements new disclosures and standards.
• Prepares complex technical accounting memos for internal management and external auditors. 
• Provides support for other ad hoc accounting and finance projects as necessary.

• Responsible for leading one or more separate & distinct functions.
• Manages exempt level coworkers.
• May manage external vendor relationships.
• Work deliverables are often self – initiated.
  Typical Minimum Education & Experience; Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

• Demonstrated relevant experience required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• CPA certification heavily preferred
• 5-10 years public accounting or other relevant work experience
• 3-5 years related supervisory experience
• Proficiency with Excel
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong computer and database skills 
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously 
• Strong technical accounting skills 
• Experience dealing with SOX and SEC reporting
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and shifting priorities in a growing environment
