POSITION PURPOSE:

The Director of Global Strategic Sourcing is responsible for managing and developing TRI’s supply base, ensuring continuous improvement in total cost and quality, while partnering with the Supply Chain Manager to develop and maintain a supply chain capable of delivering world class service to TRI’s customers. The Director of Global Strategic Sourcing will also lead TRI’s supply chain risk mitigation efforts, and work to add new and expanded supplier capabilities as needed to support new product development and product improvements.

STATUS: Exempt

WORKING HOURS: Typically, between 7-4:30pm M-F (open to some flexibility)

WORK LOCATION: Manufacturing Plant 4630 Distribution Parkway, Buford, GA 30519

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop and maintain a long range sourcing strategy for TRI’s global supply chain. This sourcing strategy will include suppliers of packaging, raw materials, components and third party manufacturing vendors.
  • Develop and maintain a Business Continuity Plan for key raw materials, components, third party manufacturing capabilities. 
  • Establish a Supplier Relationship Management program with strategic partner suppliers to deliver cost savings and capability improvements in capacity, responsiveness, sustainability, and quality, prioritized in alignment with business needs. Pursue these efforts in a way that supports and enables long term relationships with these suppliers.
  • Manage a team of Sourcing Managers. Lead this team with coaching and development to ensure they have the skills to meet organizational needs. Set priorities for the sourcing team that support the global sourcing strategy. 
  • Providing feedback on an employee’s performance, helping to develop an employee’s skills where needed, and addressing performance problems.
  • Work to ensure cost-effective purchasing of packaging and commodity materials. Should be accomplished directly with suppliers to TRI, as well as indirectly (in tandem with strategic partner suppliers) with second tier suppliers.
  • Negotiate and manage supply contracts with input and support from the Sr. Director of Operations and TRI counsel.
  • Partner with and support the Supply Chain Manager in managing the supply base / chain in a way that delivers world class service to TRI customers.
  • Ensure that suppliers are working to improve their ability to quickly respond to changes in TRI demand
  • Work together with the Supply Chain Manager to perform annual capacity planning
  • Ensure that key suppliers are adequately managing the supply of key second tier suppliers
  • Identify and evaluate new suppliers to support risk mitigation and purchasing leverage initiatives. Serve as project manager to implement new sources of supply.
  • Partner with the VP of Engineering and New Product Development Director to identify and develop suppliers and aid in the specification of materials and assemblies in support of new product development initiatives. Periodically serve as project manager on new product development projects that require significant collaboration with suppliers throughout the development process.
  • Visit suppliers to perform audits or to lead/support qualification and scale-up activities. Set-up ongoing quality agreements to be sustained through KPI reporting, on-site support and third parties as appropriate.
  • Own and maintain TRI’s ethical sourcing standards with input from senior management. These standards include our commitments to worker safety, sustainability, social responsibility and overall business ethics.
  • Work to ensure that TRI’s supply base meets TRI ethical sourcing standards. Work to develop & improve or, if necessary, replace suppliers that fall short of expectations. 
  • Facilitate the measuring of supplier performance and provide regular feedback to the TRI organization and suppliers.
  • Monitor global exchange rates and commodity prices to ensure TRI is managing its contracts and pricing to deliver fair and sustainable value from its supply base. 

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this position will include a competitive base salary and an annual incentive bonus program-details proved separately. Benefits for this position will consist of vacation benefits at a competitive level & 10 paid company holidays. Additionally, a company shut-down period is offered for one week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

You may start contributing to our 401k after completing 30 days of service (enrolling on the first of the following month). You will be eligible for the employer match up to 4% (base salary overtime wages - subject to the IRS legal limit) after completing one year of service.

Requirements

REQUIRED TALENTS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a sourcing manager or leading procurement role; minimum 8 years professional procurement experience; experience in sourcing globally, including (especially) Asia
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a global sourcing strategy. 
  • Demonstrated ability to play lead communication role in negotiating contracts / pricing
  • Good understanding of supply chain principles
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong people management/development skills
  • Demonstrated ability to source plastics and understanding of production capabilities 
  • Strong communication and people skills; effective in managing relationships both internally and externally
  • Experience leading sustainability improvements, including through work with supply chain partners preferred by not a must
  • Experience with environmental and social certifications. Examples: Sedex, BSCI/BEPI, Fair Factory Clearing House, Ethical Trading Initiative, Sustainable Forest Initiative, etc. a plus
  • Preference for candidates with experience in (the more, the better):
  • Sourcing injection molded / assembled products or components
  • Sourcing plastics 
  • Sourcing of LED’s / IC’s
  • Sourcing of rechargeable batteries
  • Chemical sourcing
  • Packaging sourcing / development
  • Regulated product categories 
  • Self-starter and intrinsically motivated, geared towards continuous improvement
  • College Graduate degree required with APICS certification preferred
  • Available for 5-10% travel domestically or internationally
