There With Care is committed to providing comprehensive services, vital resources, and unwavering support to families during the critical phase of a medical crisis with their child. Since inception, we have served over 11,500 families referred by medical agencies at our locations in Colorado and the Bay Area of California. Our goal is to serve over 100,000 families as we expand across the United States.

Position Overview:
The Controller is responsible for the accurate and timely compilation and reporting of financial records, management of data integrity within QuickBooks Online, oversight of spend management and accounts payable, creation and implementation of internal control processes, facilitation of all external audits and 990, and the management of the accounting, IT, HR, and administrative teams.
There With Care is seeking an experienced controller to help develop and support short- and long-term operational and fiscal strategies for the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in the non-profit sector, preferably in a senior role. As a skilled financial analyst, the chosen candidate will streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. The controller will produce thorough financial-status reports for the President and Board of Directors and help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our future growth.

Primary Job duties and responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting & monitoring, forecasting and financial analysis, as well as all human resources, business operations, IT/technology and infrastructure needs of the organization and its locations.
  • Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with variance comments and/or backup analysis.
  • Ensure data integrity within QuickBooks Online, including alignment between sub and general ledgers.
  • Collaborate with other teams as necessary to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial information.
  • With accounting firm support, facilitate all annual external audit processes and compilation of 990.
  • Create annual budget in collaboration with President and governing board.
  • Provide budget managers easy-to-interpret budget to actual variance reporting monthly.
  • Recommend and implement balanced internal and financial control policies, processes, and compliance.
  • Oversight of Accounts Payable processes including employee expense management through spend management app (currently Airbase).
  • Collaborate with database manager to record and reconcile monthly accurate revenue data in our system of record (Salesforce).
  • Manage banking relationships to streamline processes and maximize return on assets.
  • Manage proper payroll expense recording into the general ledger.
  • Prepare financials as necessary for grant applications and proof of performance reporting.
  • Cash flow forecasting.
  • Restricted fund management and reporting.
  • Special projects and reconciliations as needed.
  • Creation of processes and SOPs to support organization in Colorado and future chapter expansion.
  • Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies.
  • Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and department and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Oversee and support accounting, HR, IT, and administrative teams with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
  • Develop, execute, and oversee risk mitigation policies and procedures.
  • Work to build HR processes with HR specialist, establishing performance-based reviews, professional development/career track journeys, organizational policies and procedures, and SOPs.
  • Conduct routine evaluations of network and data security.
  • Analyze current systems to enhance and update software.
  • Ensures that There With Care complies with outside regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Work with management and staff to identify and manage risk.
Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 7 years relevant work experience, at least 2 years in a non-profit environment.
  • Five or more years’ experience in managing teams.
  • QuickBooks Online experience highly preferred.
  • Salesforce experience highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes.
  • Exemplary history of financial project management.
  • Strong skillset in Microsoft Excel.
  • Microsoft: Teams, Office, Outlook, SharePoint experience.
  • Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).
  • Mission-centered, strategic execution of the above job roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work closely with members of the team to achieve strategic objectives.

Compensation
FT salary, 40 hours per week (hybrid remote 1 day/4 days in office)
Reports to President and COO
Manages the following departments: Accounting, IT, HR (contract, 2024), and other administrative staff
Salary Range $92K - $109K
