Every Lower School homeroom boasts two full-time lead teachers who embody the same intellectual curiosity, wholesome intensity, and creative spirit as their students. Our unique co-teaching model means you will partner with another master teacher to create a vibrant homeroom environment for 18-20 bright young learners. This collaboration allows our teachers to not only fully utilize their own strengths, but to benefit from close partnership with a fellow educator. Alongside eighty-five other Lower School faculty, you'll meet in teams to design lessons, create assessments, share ideas, and innovate for the future.
For our part, Westminster stands ready to support you with exceptional resources, including a Center for Teaching that provides workshops, cohorts, coaching, travel grants, and resources to help you be your best. Anticipated start date: August 1, 2024
Supervisor: Head of the Lower School
Position Status: This position is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 10-month position.
QUALIFICATIONS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Teaching experience at the elementary level
- An undergraduate degree in fieldadvanced degree preferred
- A demonstrated understanding of current practices, including:
- Singapore Math
- Readers and Writers' Workshop
- Science of Reading
- Orton-Gillingham
- Responsive Classroom
- Integrated studies
- Assessment practices based on learning goals
- Co-teach alongside another lead teacher to create a dynamic learning environment for 20 students
- Design and implement innovative lessons and assessments to achieve learning goals
- Teach an intentional social and emotional learning curriculum
- Contribute to interdisciplinary curriculum design and student support strategies
- Collaborate with colleagues through participation in the Lower School PLCs (Professional Learning Community), GLMs (Grade Level Meeting) and Curriculum Committees
- Ensure student safety, including supervising recess, lunch, and transitions between classrooms
- Communicate effectively with parents, administration, and stakeholders
- Provide feedback on and evaluation of students during the admission process
- Contributing to the larger school community through coaching, sponsorship, or other extracurriculars
- Other duties as assigned
