Reports to: Head of Lower School

Position Summary: The Lovett School, an independent K-12 day school in Atlanta, GA, seeks a Lower School Homeroom Teacher to begin in August 2024. Interested applicants should be enthusiastic educators with a passion for teaching young children. Experience with Reading and Writing Workshop, Orton Gillingham, Understanding by Design, and Responsive Classroom will be preferred, as will a nuanced understanding of and interest in equity and inclusion. A master’s degree in Elementary Education is preferred, but not required.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Embrace and impart Lovett’s Core Values.

• Develop curriculum and assessments and differentiate instruction.

• Fulfill other Lower School duties as assigned.

• Flexibility and responsiveness to a variety of learning styles across a range of abilities
• Ability to collaboratively engage with students, faculty, staff, and administration
• Willingness to contribute to the school community beyond the classroom
• Excellent written and verbal skills to facilitate effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors
• Familiarity with technology, including SMARTboard and Google Suite
• Commitment to developing one’s cultural self-awareness, cultural competence, and emotional intelligence
• Ethical behavior, professionalism, and reliable attendance
• Three years of classroom experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger. The employee is often required to stand, walk, and reach with their hands.
