The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa is Hiring a Wedding and Events Manager Near Henderson, NV

Job Description

The Wedding & Event Manager will be responsible for soliciting new corporate/association catering, civic, charitable, wedding, bar/bat mitzvahs, holiday parties, family reunion accounts, entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and/or exceed food and beverage revenue goals. The Catering Manager participates in arranging and coordinating all meeting details to include food and beverage functions, wedding ceremonies, audio visual needs, group transportation, billing instructions and other special requirements of the customer. He/she may also coordinate and be on site for the set-up throughout the events booked, create bookings and posting of the catering.

Primary function is to increase revenues and profits by increasing and generating catering sales and business (both social and corporate) through aggressive proactive sales efforts against assigned local, regional and national markets and / or clientele.

Catering

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance
  • Participate in daily business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other catering sales related meetings as required.
  • Attend community/social events and industry meetings
  • Distribute Banquet Event Orders and Catering resumes to all appropriate hotel departments to facilitate efficient purchasing, planning, and employee scheduling
  • Provides 30/60/90 forecasts, provides Actuals vs. Forecast at end of month with comments.
  • Conduct property tours and participate in trade shows, industry and community events to promote facilities and services
  • Develop market segments and solicit new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships
  • Negotiate services and prices to maximize revenue and profitability
  • Assist the Director in the management of the department, as needed
  • Conduct catering and external sales presentations to prospective customers to solicit, explain, negotiate and secure local catering business.

Wedding

  • Develop strong relationship with wedding planning firms through prospecting and presentation efforts for the purpose of securing business for the resorts and proper positioning of the resort as a wedding destination.
  • Review wedding sourcing platforms and marketing opportunities to ensure continued growth of qualified wedding

Inquiries.

  • Responding to all wedding inquiries in a prompt and professional manner, assisting clients on options best suited to both the couple’s needs and the resort’s successful operation while providing excellent service
  • Conduct all site visit and follow up with the potential client to secure the business.
  • Worked closely with Director of Sales & Marketing to optimize schedule and business options.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, continually seeking opportunities from unique resources such as wedding professional associations, bloggers and influencers, vendors and sourcing sites
  • Create and expertly execute wedding FAM experiences at resort to best showcase offerings and grow content for wedding marketing.
  • Employ excellent communication and listening skills to qualify clients and grow conversion of leads.
  • Research, identify, analyze and develop new business opportunities
  • Creative use of social media and other research/prospecting tools to reach potential wedding couples and event planning firms
  • Manage current accounts / clientele to ensure continued profitability
  • Plan and execute sales to qualified wedding showcases, industry events, trade shows and resort FAM trips in accordance with the company and property policies
  • Expert knowledge of resorts, event space and services accurately and with resort profitability in mind
  • Continuously grow knowledge of destinations and infrastructures, allowing for better communication of options and benefits to potential clients
  • Prepare accurate proposals, cost estimates and contracts
  • Prepare proper documentation to create deposit and payment estimates and schedules. Follow up on all due payments and ensure that all events are prepaid by deadline.
  • Develop new / customized promotions or packages and submit recommendations to the Director of Sales & Marketing for review and approval
  • Share important client information to all applicable departments / staff on site and contract turnovers
  • Develop strong, mutually beneficial partnership with local and state vendors to enhance wedding and optimize revenues.
  • Provide consistent reporting as requested, including annual Strategic Sales Plan for weddings market
  • Participate in Sales / Marketing/Operational meetings
  • Maintain flexible schedule including weekends, evening and early morning hours and holidays, modifying hours as needed to ensure best sales efforts
  • Work closely with banquets and conference service team to ensure proper service and coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

· Previous experience in a luxury/4-diamond hotel or resort preferred and a minimum of 2-3 years with catering sales and food and beverage knowledge.

· Candidate should be extremely detail oriented, organized and be able to handle a fast-paced environment

· Must be a self-starter, flexible, creative, organized and results driven.

· Must be able to meet the demands of clients' events to include presence at numerous food and beverage functions throughout the day and evenings

· Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

· Knowledge of local market

· Software systems such as Lightspeed, Microsoft Office. And Marriott CI/TY is a plus.

Responsibility

  • Deal effectively with departments and maintain regular communication
  • Ensure that weddings / guests have a positive experience, taking necessary steps to correct deficiencies
  • Negotiate room blocks, room rates, function space, food and beverage prices, and resort services within approved departmental booking guidelines
  • Confirm in writing to the client and all affected resort departments all group, catering and wedding requirements via group sales contract

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree four-year College or university; or equivalent related work related experience

Experience: Minimum 1 -2 years of experience in Convention Services, Banquet, Hotel Sales, Marketing, or equivalent education and experience.

Physical Requirements and working conditions:

Ability to speak and hear in English. Close and distance vision. Frequent sitting with some walking and standing. Frequently lifts/carries up to 25 lbs. Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills. Continually works in normal office conditions and in close proximity to others.
