Job Description
Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Video Production Assistant. The Video Production Assistant is responsible for assisting with video, photography and multimedia projects. Working directly with the Campus Photographer, the Assistant's responsibilities will be split into production, post-production and coordination duties. Key responsibilities in post-production will involve basic photographic touch-up work, managing and cataloging NSC's digital assets as well as overseeing editing and timely delivery of ongoing NSC event video and photo content. During production, the assistant will help with lighting set-up and breakdown, audio recording and camera operations. Coordination duties will include scheduling with interview subjects, securing locations throughout the campus and communicating production needs with contacts and key stake holders of various projects.
The candidate for this position will be required to exercise clear written and verbal communications. Training and professional development are a key part of this position, candidates are not expected to have all the skills necessary at the outset, but will need to demonstrate a basic understanding of the tools involved, including Adobe Photoshop and Premiere and a basic understanding of photography as well as show an aptitude for learning software, and for accepting feedback.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Support the Campus Photographer on digital media tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at NSC.
  • The ideal candidate for this position will have enough video experience to be comfortable filming and editing regular video projects including b-roll, interviews, and complete event coverage.
  • Basic understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Premiere and Photoshop, is required.
  • General knowledge of cameras and other equipment such as lighting and microphones.
  • Ability to exercise clear written and verbal communications.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSC does not sponsor employment-related visas).
Please note: Applicants must meet the posted minimum qualifications at the time of application in order to be considered for the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in photography is a plus but not required. However, candidate should be open to receiving training from Campus Photographer to complete any photo related tasks that may be assigned.
Work Hours:
Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week. Schedule is flexible.
Hourly Rate:
$10.50 per hour
