The UPS Store at Charlotte Convention Center is Hiring an Assistant Manager Near Charlotte, NC

We are looking for someone with an outgoing personality, exceptional customer service skills and the ability to effectively manage a team for peak performance in a retail-service environment. The Assistant Manager helps the Center Manager run the day-to-day operations of this retail location.

Other skills required are strong organizational skills, motivating leadership skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, some accounting knowledge, and good computer skills. The UPS Store inside the Charlotte Convention Center provides a unique opportunity to work in the world of Events & Event Planning!

Key Skills & Abilities: Diligent Self-Starter, Team Leader, Good Attitude, Multi-tasking, Desire to Help Others, Ability to Motivate a Team, Strong Verbal & Written Communication.

Knowledge of basic computer functions & Ability to lift 50 LBS Regularly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helps with personnel management, which includes recruiting, training, scheduling, and coaching associates.
  • Smile. Greet and welcome customers. Engage to determine their needs and create a plan on how to meet and exceed their expectations.
  • Use provided resources to execute plans in response to the Convention Center Event Schedule.
  • Provide friendly assistance to customers with the following: using computers, taking fingerprints, submitting files for print, processing returns, creating shipping documents, accessing our services and resources.
  • Operate copiers, fax machines, binding/laminating equipment, packaging tools and all other machines, equipment, and supplies in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
  • Merchandising the center, including: stocking shelves with product, ensuring a clean and orderly appearance of products and center; Monitoring inventory levels and reordering supplies; being informed of and monitoring product specifics (i.e., warranties, claims, pricing, etc.).
  • Lead by example to support and motivate the achievement of sales & customer satisfaction goals, including: explaining product specifics to cross-sell/up-sell in response to customer needs, interact with and establish relationships with customers in a friendly manner, driving repeat business. Coach associates to do the same.
  • Receive and process packages for courier shipping, including lifting packages, accessing iShip software, generating labels and retrieving from customers vehicle or around the building when requested. Pack contents for shipping using established procedures and products.
  • Facilitate and monitor the resolution of customer issues, traces, and claims.
  • Record all sales transactions on Point-of-Sale System (POS) and accurately process cash, check, and credit card transactions. Close out register & reconciliation of cash, checks, credit cards and all other transactions accurately and in accordance with Company Policy and procedure.
  • Become a Notary Public and notarize customer documents when appropriate and according to the requirements as specified for the State of North Carolina. (It is not required that you already be a Notary Public). Witness documents for customers where applicable.
  • Reviews daily employee timesheets and submits for payroll processing.
  • Helps develop and implement the store marketing program.
  • Maintaining safety, organization, cleanliness, and upkeep of housekeeping duties.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

2 Years of Supervisory experience in shipping, print, retail or other relevant industry Required

2 Years of Customer Service Experience Required

Experience working with events and in the Hospitality industry

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office & Print Production Desired

High school diploma or GED required. Advanced education degree, coursework, or tech school desired.

Language Skills: Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain harmonious relationships with customers and co-workers, in person, over the phone and by email.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate a manual pallet jack for moving freight type shipments. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Passionate, high energy and outgoing personality. Ability to problem solve and think critically through challenging scenarios.

Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
