Description
    • Assume leadership for the TRIO SSS program.
    • Coordinate TRIO SSS services with other student success programs.
    • Develop, execute, and evaluate program objectives.
    • Establish, monitor, and administer program budget.
    • Hire, supervise, and train all TRIO SSS academic advisors and staff.
    • Monitor program effectiveness.
    • Direct procedures for recruiting and selecting TRIO SSS participants.
    • Organize and direct orientation sessions for potential new participants and parents.
    • Prepare and submit annual performance report by or before deadline.
    • Facilitate cross-campus communications.
    • Coordinate first year program.
    • Manage student caseload.
    • Serve on select committees and work groups to represent the best interests of the grant and students in the program.
    • Close collaboration with other administrative offices on campus is critical.
    Requirements
      • Responsible for supervising 3 academic advisors and 2 work-study students.
      • This position is responsible for ensuring the objectives of the grant are fulfilled, that the budget is handled in a fiscally responsible manner.
      • The Director has sole signature authority for grant expenditures.
      • The Director is responsible for hiring and training staff, completing yearly staff evaluations and performance plans.
      • A bachelor's degree is required for this position.
      • Experience as a campus project administrator is also required as well as experience supervising others.
      • Experience is needed in analyzing data and managing budgets.
      • Experience working with disadvantaged students is required.
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary for this position.
      • Participation in grant writing workshops to acquire proficiency in grant writing.
      • Participation in training related to understanding the regulations related to managing a federal grant.
    Preferred
      • Master’s Degree in related field.
      • Knowledge of MUS policies and procedures.
      • Experience in coordinating a first-year program for incoming students.
      • Experience with grant writing.
      • Experience with student software programs such as student access.

      Montana Western is the only public four-year college in the nation offering Experience One (X1), experiential learning delivered on the block schedule. Class sizes are small and students take a single course at a time, three hours each day for 18 days, before moving on to the next course.
