Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Location: Crofton, MD Hybrid with some travel

The UEP Group is now hiring a Human Resources Generalist to join our Management Services company to support our strategic growth plans. The ideal candidate for this role needs to feel comfortable working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. You must be able to effectively liaise internally with team members as well as with outside stakeholders when necessary.

Summary:

UEP Management Services is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team and support HR functions across our portfolio companies in the U.S. and Canada. The ideal candidate will have experience working with unions, a strong understanding of Canadian labor law, and the ability to effectively manage administrative tasks related to HR operations. This position will be based in our Ontario office and will report to the Manager, People and Culture.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Union Relations:

  • Collaborate with union representatives to ensure compliance with union agreements.
  • Address employee grievances and negotiate resolutions when necessary.

Administrative Functions:

  • Work closely with management and payroll to approve timekeeping through our HRIS system, Paylocity.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate employee records and files in HRIS.

Legal Compliance:

  • Stay up to date with Canadian labor laws and regulations.
  • Adjust company policies and practices accordingly to ensure compliance.

Policy and Procedure Development:

  • Create and document company procedures, training processes, and job descriptions.
  • Ensure policies and procedures align with legal requirements and organizational goals.

Safety Trainings and Certifications:

  • Document and record safety trainings administered monthly.
  • Maintain records of employee certifications and professional licensures.

Recruiting and Onboarding:

  • Assist in recruiting efforts, including job postings, screening candidates, and conducting interviews.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding activities and orientation sessions.

Termination Activities:

  • Support termination processes, including conducting exit interviews and processing paperwork.

Benefit Administration:

  • Serve as a point of contact for benefit administration.
  • Manage relationships with benefit brokers to ensure smooth administration of employee benefits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources roles, preferably in a multi-state/ international environment.
  • Experience working with unions and knowledge of Canadian labor laws.
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and HRIS systems, particularly Paylocity.

Physical demands and work environment:

· Work is primarily in an office environment, on the road, or remote schedule.

· Successful candidate must be able to operate standard office equipment.

· Must be able to use a computer to access, input and retrieve information.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
