The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is Hiring a Human Resources Generalist & Assistant Bookkeeper Near Fort Worth, TX

NOTE: This is a full-time position that pays $20-$24/Hour, commensurate to experience. This position is scheduled to work Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Applicant must be able to pass testing for HR, AR, AP, & Bookkeeping. The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for Human Resources Generalist-Assistant Bookkeeper. We offer competitive benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, and Hearing Insurance plans; Group Life Insurance; Retirement Benefits; Education Assistance; and Paid Vacation Days. Job SummaryManages and provides guidance to the Administrator, managers, and employees with human resources related issues Understand and interpret policies and procedures, on HR laws including but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, FLSA, worker’s compensation, etc. Knowledge of general practices and procedures of payroll processing. Performs specialized clerical and bookkeeping tasks in the recording and the maintenance of precise fiscal records and financial data; prepares and maintains financial records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner ensuring the integrity, security and accountability of the financial records in accordance with established Salvation Army policies, procedures, and state and federal laws. Human Resources Responsibilities: (50%)Manages and provides guidance on all human resources functions for the Adult Rehabilitation Center including, but not limited to: recruitment, staffing, new hire orientation, employee benefits, employee relations, disciplinary issues, investigations of policy/rule violations, interpretation of policies and procedures, guidance on HR laws including, but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, FLSA, worker’s compensation, etc. Provides guidance and recommendations related to various employee relations issues including recruiting, compensation, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Interprets and provide guidance and recommendations related to policies and procedures in the employee manual. Investigates and acquires written statements from witnesses, accusers and defendants, related to disciplinary issues; acquires all other pertinent documents including videos, pictures or other relevant documents; provides recommendations to management personnel regarding the suggested disciplinary actions to take considering the results of the investigation and potential previous rule or policy violations. Oversees the Center’s FMLA, ADA and Worker’s Compensation issues and ensures that appropriate documentation is sent and acquired on a timely basis; reviews forms for accuracy and completeness; follows up with employee if information is missing or not understandable; ensures that employees returning to work with medical limitations work within their medical limitations. Responds to questions regarding human resources policies and procedures; provides guidance in completing various HR forms, reviews forms for accuracy and completeness; follows up with employee if information is missing or not understandable; ensures compliance with departmental human resources policies and procedures. Serves as a liaison between the Center and the ARC Command regarding HR issues. Inputs data and maintains the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) in order for system capabilities to be fully utilized while ensuring accuracy and completeness of employee records; produces various reports as requested/required. Prepares and maintains the manual human resources record keeping filing system which contains a hard copy of all human resources records including Employee Compensation Information Forms, salary histories, benefit eligibility, etc.; utilizes a bring-up system; ensures the files are maintained in an organized and efficient manner. Maintains files with medical information which includes but is not limited to: FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, ADA, or other medical information in a locked file cabinet, separate from all other personnel files. Maintains and tracks FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, ADA and other leaves in accordance with established policies, procedures, and state and federal statutes. Maintains the confidentiality of all human resources and payroll records, and the confidentiality of human resources-related correspondence, conversations, or issues residing in the ARC. Works with the Administrator and the ARC Command in communicating various HR information to employees; prepares, types and/or photocopies information for distribution regarding various HR issues including, but not limited to benefits, compensation, policy and or rule changes, etc. Uploads various documents to TSAMM and submits to ARC Command for approval, e.g., New Hires, Promotions, Position Changes, Rate Changes, Leave of Absence and Terminations in the TSAMM program. Communicates the Open Enrollment process for the Center. Payroll Responsibilities: (10%)Maintains timesheets and computerized time sheet system. Responds to employee and management questions regarding various payroll issues. Troubleshoots various payroll related issues. Files and maintains all payroll information in accordance with federal, state and Salvation Army guidelines and regulations. Tracks time and attendance and informs management of areas of concern to include, but not limited to: employees with excessive absences or not complying with established reporting/leaving times. Tracks sick and vacation time. Assistant Bookkeeper: (40%) Reviews, checks, and verifies store and auction reports for accuracy and completion; ensures that the deposit matches totals on store reports; checks all bank card deposits, cash deposits, "Z" counts, voids, and similar activities to ensure that all store reports are verified and in compliance with standard operating procedures. Processes daily sales information through the appropriate software including integration of information into Great Plains Accounting. Ensures timely submission of daily sales report to Director of Finance and other management personnel upon request. Oversees the cash register policies and procedures and ensures that they are up-to-date at all times as well as distributed to the store personnel and managers in a timely manner. Works with personnel to resolve mistakes or problems found in reports. Assists in maintaining the petty cash. Troubleshoot problems with the cash register system. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of human resources practices and procedures. Knowledge of standard record keeping practices and procedures. Knowledge of the practices and procedures of basic payroll processing. Ability to organize and maintain files of payroll records. Ability to read and comprehend manuals and written instructions. Ability to maintain the confidential nature of human resources related information. Ability to prepare and maintain human resources records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner. Ability to interpret and enforce personnel policies and procedures in a tactful and courteous manner. Knowledge of the practices and procedures of basic accounting and/or bookkeeping. Knowledge of basic double-entry bookkeeping principles and practices of applications to accounting transactions. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Knowledge of computer spreadsheet software and word processing software. Knowledge, skills and ability to successfully communicate, both verbally and in writing, in the English language. Ability to read and comprehend manuals and written instructions. Ability to alphabetize, organize, and maintain various files. Ability to process financial and other documents in compliance with established policies and procedures. Ability to maintain the confidential nature of related information. Education and ExperienceFour year degree in Human Resources, business, or management from an accredited school, and five years’ experience working in the human resource field, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses and CertificationsValid State Driver’s LicensePHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsAbility to meet attendance requirements. Ability to successfully interact with a variety of personalities, to include, but not limited to: co- workers, peers, subordinates, management staff, vendors, customers, and beneficiaries. Duties are usually performed seated.
