Job Description:
The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in operational and HR matters: actively participating in the store’s daily operations; assisting in the implementation of company policies, executing basic HR follow up, maintaining the sales floor (store upkeep, merchandising, inventory), leading sales growth, hiring, training and supervising staff and administrative duties associated with store operations.
The Assistant Manager must be detail-oriented, with an interest in the operational side business as well as a customer-oriented attitude with a flair for sales and educating customers in a manner that is sex-positive. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse demographic, both internally and externally, is mandatory. This role requires a conscious leader who fosters a collaborative and creative work environment, as well recognizes the strengths of all team members.

Customer Service
The Assistant Manager is expected to support and monitor the sales floor and staff. The Assistant Manager will also address customer complaints and concerns and process higher level point of sale functions. The Assistant Manager’s main focus while on the sales floor is to act as an exemplary model of The Pleasure Chest’s brand of customer service, coach sales staff on customer service standards and to supervise floor staff in their daily duties, with special attention to customer needs. In addition, Assistant Managers will provide HR support to Managers and follow up on recurring performance issues up to and including HR documentation.
Sales Floor Operations and Store Upkeep
The Assistant Manager is expected to consistently maintain the store’s appearance by seeking out and identifying store upkeep projects and tasks, as well as delegating appropriately to staff. The Assistant Manager will maintain a critical eye on the floor, with special attention to merchandizing, cleanliness, displays, lighting, stock levels and sales. Assistant Managers will execute monthly merchandising tasks and report directly to the national purchasing department on merchandising maps, maintaining end cap standards and special merchandising projects. They will assist the Store Manager in executing special projects and oversee daily upkeep, with a hands-on approach.
The Assistant Manager is expected to take lead in running floor operations, always with the customer experience in mind. In addition, the Assistant Store Manager will actively participate in floor operations: “break” staff for lunches, make change for registers, and assign special projects, i.e. merchandising, purchasing, cleaning, events, etc.
The Assistant Manager will also assist the store manager in facility and accounting matters for the store.
HR
Assistant Managers will provide HR support to Managers and follow up on recurring performance issues up to and including HR documentation.
Shipping and Receiving Duties
The Assistant Manager may be expected to oversee operational duties such as weekly orders, receiving merchandise and supplies, shipping inter-store transfers, executing inventory counts program, and accounting reporting. Assistant Managers will not be expected to execute all tasks listed single-handedly, but will work collaboratively with the Store’s Manager to assist and balance the administrative duties for the location appropriately, as well as support on special projects as they arise.
Training
The Assistant Manager will assist in training new staff on store operations, products, Eagle software, opening/closing procedures, cash handling, store layout, restocking and cleaning duties and other daily relevant tasks. Assistant Managers will also execute departmental trainings as appropriate and may, in some cases, execute the core sex ed, or customer service training for new hires.
Team Building
This position acts as a co-leader of the team, multitasking and managing projects with minimal supervision, as well as, delegating appropriately to staff. The Assistant Manager will foster healthy interpersonal relationships amongst staff by communicating clearly, resolving conflicts effectively and in a timely manner. They will be dedicated to fostering collaboration amongst staff and develop individuals by identifying and growing each person’s individual skill set.

Schedule and Additional Pay
Assistant Managers are required to work a full time (4 shift/week, 10hr shifts) schedule including night and weekend shifts. Assistant Managers are also eligible for monthly vendor or company sponsored spiffs. All manager positions at the Pleasure Chest are sales focused.
