Responsibilities: • Teaching and interacting with the children in the Spanish language, exposing them to songs, finger plays, music and dance in Spanish. • Conducting daily supervision of children’s activities and conducting daily inspection of environment. • Practicing developmentally appropriate techniques and assisting with implementing the lesson plans. • Working together with the Lead Teacher to maintain an orderly and clean learning environment (this includes taking out the trash; proper sanitizing of tables, counters, bathrooms, and toys; and organizing drawers, cabinets and shelves). • Assisting the children during snack and mealtimes, modeling polite manners. • Assisting children with personal hygiene, which may include diaper changing, potty-training, or cleaning a child and helping him/her to change clothes in the event of an accident. • Utilizing Conscious Discipline strategies to promote cooperation, constructive problem solving and academic success in the classroom. • Engaging children in a playful learning environment both indoors and outdoors (outdoor playtime consists of two scheduled 45-minute periods each day); • Preparing crafts and activities for and participating in special events and celebrations such as Easter and Día de los Muertos. • Helping out in other parts of the school. • Attending ongoing staff development activities, including our evening monthly staff meeting, and maintaining required level of training hours (at present, 24 hours annually from start of employment, current CPR & First Aid certification, annual child abuse training; other requirements apply for caregivers with less than two years of experience in a licensed child care center in Texas) with documentation. Additional training may be required by the Director based on identified needs/deficiencies of the teacher.
