- Teaching and interacting with the children in the Spanish language, exposing them to songs, music, and dance in Spanish.
- Conducting daily supervision of children’s activities and conducting daily inspection of environment.
- Practicing developmentally appropriate techniques and assisting with implementing the lesson plans.
- Working together with the Lead Teacher to maintain an orderly and clean learning environment (this includes taking out the trash; proper sanitizing of tables, counters, bathrooms, and toys; and organizing drawers, cabinets and shelves).
- Assisting the children during snack and mealtimes, modeling polite manners.
- Assisting children with personal hygiene, which may include cleaning a child and helping him/her to change clothes in the event of an accident.
- Utilizing Conscious Discipline strategies to promote cooperation, constructive problem solving and academic success in the classroom.
- Engaging children in a playful learning environment both indoors and outdoors (outdoor playtime consists of two scheduled 45-minute periods each day).
- Opening or closing the classroom on a daily basis.
- Preparing crafts and activities for and participating in special events and celebrations such as Easter and Día de los Muertos.
- Helping out in other parts of the school.
- Attending ongoing staff development activities, including our evening monthly staff meeting, and maintaining required level of training hours.
