The Oakwood Group is currently looking for a Die Maker to join our family-owned operation on 2nd shift!  
The Oakwood Group is a third generation, family-owned company that has been in business for over 75 years. Oakwood manufactures interior automotive parts such as metal speaker covers and safety plastics for the automotive Industry.

JOB SUMMARY: A Die Maker will play a pivotal role in our manufacturing operations, bringing advanced skills and expertise to create and maintain high-quality dies. This position requires a professional who can take ownership of complex projects, drive process improvements, and ensure the seamless operation of die production, maintenance, and repair.

RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):
  • Die Fabrication: Lead the entire fabrication of intricate dies for various production processes. Utilize advanced techniques, tools, and shop machinery to achieve precision, quality, and efficiency in die manufacturing. This includes the fabrication, fit, and assembly of details, completing the die tryout phase, and confirming that the parts meet the customer's specifications.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Oversee the maintenance and repair of existing dies, ensuring longevity and optimal performance. Implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
  • Quality Control: Establish and enforce rigorous quality control measures to guarantee the highest die and component production standards. Conduct thorough inspections and testing throughout the build process to identify and address any deviations from specifications.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with the design and engineering teams to interpret design specifications and provide insights for die improvements. Translate design specifications into actionable steps for die fabrication, including outside processes required. Collaborate on the development of new die designs to meet evolving production needs.
  • Troubleshooting: Act as a subject matter expert in diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to die functionality. Provide technical support to address challenges in die production and implement effective solutions. CORE COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have all personal tools standard to trade practice.
  • Achieve and maintain hi-lo and crane certification.
  • Highly efficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of practical experience in progressive or line die-making.
  • Must be able to perform all physical duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
