The Oak Table and Bar seeks a talented, guest-facing chef!
Since 2019, The Oak has been cooking up local ingredients on a daily menu. You will work closely with Chef/Owner Elisha Irland to continue giving Augusta and its visitors a memorable experience. Currently sitting at the top of central Maine's web reviews, we need someone to build on the reputation we have.
This is a guest-facing position where you will have a few people sitting in your kitchen watching you cook. We have a blast, but its not for everyone. If you don't like customers or can't polish up well, this job is not for you.
Pay includes an hourly rate of $19-21 and a generous share of the gratuity pool that will land you around $500 / week in slow season, and upwards of $1000 for our busiest weeks.
After 90 days, time off is paid and most requests are covered with enough notice. Four or five day work week options. Holiday bonus, performance bonus, healthcare reimbursements. Most holidays off.
Here's what we need:
5 years experience cooking in upscale environments
2 years management experience
Trained in food safety
Open kitchen experience preferred
Knowledge of the Maine culinary scene
A clean, polished appearance and demeanor
Must be vaccinated
Candidates will be asked to provide a quick portfolio of past food pictures, menus, events, press...etc. We will need to see you cook for your second interview.
This opportunity is perfect for someone eager to flex their their skills, build themselves a name and enjoy a little freedom combined with a good schedule (we don't serve breakfast or lunch and the restaurant closes between 8 and 10pm).
Looking forward to meeting you,
Eli
