Position Summary/Overview:

This position is responsible for processing semi-monthly payroll and retirement for approximately 60 employees. As the sole payroll professional the Part Time Payroll Associate will report to the Director of Finance and work closely with the Director of Human Resources. In addition to the semi-monthly processing, the Part Time Payroll Associate will initially help establish new payroll procedures with a new payroll provider, document the process, and assist with employee questions. 

Work Schedule:

Up to 20 hours per week. NYAM regular work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process, enter and verify semi-monthly payroll, including changes for salaried staff, recording time worked for hourly and part-time staff and calculation of overtime for non-exempt staff.
• Enter tax data, deductions, and direct deposit information for new hires. Make changes to this information as needed.
• Verify all pay rates and personal data entered by Human Resources.
• Calculate and verify semi-monthly retirement contributions within Academy and federal limits.
• Coordinate with PEO quarterly and annual tax data related to Form 941 filings.
• Coordinate with PEO the preparation of annual W-2s and reconcile with accounting records.
• Collaborate effectively with Human Resources colleagues to ensure timely and accurate administration of payroll.
• Maintain records of employee vacation and sick leave usage and accrual. 
• Prepare schedules and provide documentation for year-end audit, budget preparation, workers compensation audit and retirement plan audit.
• Provide salary information for monthly salary allocations and other report requests.
• Other payroll functions as needed.

Qualifications:

Required

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll processing. 
• Experience with multiple payroll systems.

Preferred

• Experience with HRCloud payroll system
• Payroll system transition experience. 
• Bachelor’s degree.

Work Environment:

There is a COVID-19 vaccine mandate in place at NYAM. Currently, staff are working in a hybrid situation, however, this may change in accordance with organizational policies.
