Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, menu planning, food quality, and kitchen staff management. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our organizations food services and programs.

Job Hazards:

  • Working with kitchen appliances and tools
  • Working outside in elements at times
  • Possible exposure to hazardous material
  • Physical strain from lifting and moving program materials
  • Exposure to large groups of people
  • May receive minor cuts and burns associated with cooking

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage kitchen staff and assist in their training.
  • Maintain records of labor hours and attendance.
  • Foster a climate of cooperation and respect among co-workers.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation and timely service.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels, placing orders as needed.
  • Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace.
  • Assist in menu planning and development.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Control and direct the entire food preparation process, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
  • Proven experience as a cook in a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Culinary school diploma or relevant certification is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Food handler's permit or certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry heavy pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Work in a hot and fast-paced environment.
  • Bending, stooping, and reaching as required.
