The Mom Project is Hiring a Remote Litigation Counsel
***The salary range for this position is $84.19 - $106.58 per hour.***

We are seeking a Litigation Counsel on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. As Litigation Counsel within our Litigation, Competition, and Enforcement team, you will be responsible for managing all kinds of litigation and pre-litigation disputes. You will also handle subpoenas and regulatory responses, oversee eDiscovery on your matters, support our Terms of Service (TOS) enforcement, and provide litigation risk counseling related to the Company's business issues. This role is a hybrid setup with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite at our Customer's location in San Francisco, or Sunnyvale, CA .
What You’ll Do:
Manage a global docket of all kinds of litigation and pre-litigation disputes for the company, including privacy and consumer class actions, patent and other Intellectual Property (IP) disputes; individual platform user and customer disputes, employment disputes, and more
Develop the best possible evidentiary record for your cases
Handle subpoenas and regulatory inquiries, and other litigation-adjacent matters
Work to establish internal practices to mitigate litigation risks and ensure effective responses when such risks materialize
Drive good business results by providing practical legal advice on a range of product issues impacted by active or threatened litigation matters
Engage and manage outside counsel and vendors to ensure the delivery of practical, efficient, and expert litigation advice
Collaborate with technical investigators to send cease and desist correspondence to stop abuse on the platform such as data scraping, fake accounts, and copyright infringement
Support offensive litigation to enforce the Company’s TOS against abusive tools and services
Must Haves:
5 years of combined litigation experience at a law firm, in-house, and/or governmental agencies
Broad litigation experience including discovery, motion practice, oral arguments, trials, drafting compelling briefs, pre-suit activity, offensive litigation, mediation, and settlement negotiations
Experience with class actions and/or patent infringement litigation preferred
Experience and comfort with highly-technical subject matter preferred
Experience working in-house at a technology company or working closely with global technology clients preferred
Comfort with eDiscovery support software and complicated eDiscovery issues preferred
Ability to quickly identify, understand, and resolve legal and business issues preferred
Ability to deliver clear and concise legal advice and direction preferred
Cease and desist correspondence and TOS compliance negotiations preferred
Litigation experience with DMCA, CFAA, and/or California Penal Code Section 502 preferred
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams preferred
Excellent judgment and analytical abilities, impeccable integrity, and a good sense of humor preferred
Discovery nuts and bolts: written discovery, document collection, and witness deposition preparation preferred
Ability to distill legal and factual issues into concise explanations preferred
Litigation process management preferred
Highly organized preferred
The ability to prioritize competing work streams in a fast-paced environment preferred
Editing and improving legal briefs preferred
Facility learning new technologies preferred
Good judgment preferred
Strong communication, both written and verbal preferred
Education:
Juris Doctor and admission to the California bar or the ability to practice in-house in your office location
Hours & Location:
M-F, 40 hours/week. This role is a hybrid setup with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite at our Customer's location in San Francisco, or Sunnyvale, CA .
