Description

The Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Director’s Office, Financial Management Unit, is seeking a highly skilled professional to provide a wide variety of technical support work. The ideal candidates will be tasked with reviewing and processing materials and documents to include but not limited to human resources, administrative and financial support to Department staff and facilities.

Job Summary:
Provides administrative assistance for various programmatic activities. Supports efforts of administrative specialists (Budget Coordinators) to develop and administer project charge agreements. Interacts with staff, citizen's groups, and others to provide information, gather data, and prepare reports.
Serves as liaison to coordinate technical and administrative functions for the Financial Management Unit, to assist with contract administration of project charges, budget presentations, quarterly budget projections, and annual budget development.
May evaluate and initiate changes in office administrative practices and provide training and technical assistance to staff on administrative matters. Regularly attends staff meetings noting tasks to be accomplished and providing updates as needed.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Provide administrative support to Budget Management & Cost Recovery
  • Provide administrative support to the Budget Coordinators:
    • Prepare, process, and track project charge contracts to include contract preparation, requisition processing, contract execution, processing of check requests using the Accounting On-Line System, coordinating payments with Accounts Payable, and maintaining and updating the project charge template.
    • Meeting coordination to include scheduling, room reservation and set-up, catering services, and preparation of meeting materials.
  • Conduct occasional training for divisional and unit staff to inform them of up-to-date processes, policies, and procedures.

Salary:

  • The salary range for this position is $45,792 - $81,100. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include PowerPoint and Publisher for presentations.
  • Data entry, tracking, and compilation skills for report creation.
  • Proficient in operation of office machines (i.e. multi-line phone, xerox, fax, etc.).
  • Ability to work with a team to support work program/unit.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
2. Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience that includes at least two (2) years in administrative and clerical support work and at least one (1) year of technical support experience in the administrative management areas of the specific position to be filled.
3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 4 years.
