The Las Olas Company / Riverside Hotel is Hiring an Engineer II Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

POSITION: ENGINEER II
DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE
REPORTS TO: CHIEF ENGINEER

SUMMARY:

To properly repair and maintain the physical asset and provide general leadership and support for Mechanic I team workers.

REQUIREMENTS:

Proficiency in two (2) categories of Mechanical, Electrical, Carpentry, Painting, or Plumbing, and one (1) additional category listed below plus general knowledge of the other categories.

Mechanical  

  • Air conditioning repair 

  • Pump repair and preventive maintenance 

  • P-Tac troubleshooting/replacement

  • Refrigeration Troubleshooting & repair

  • Fan/blower replacement/repair

  • Troubleshoot & repair ventilation systems

  • Interpret electrical a/c blue prints/schematics

Plumbing

  • Install new systems

  • Copper fitting sweating

  • Drain line fitting replacement ie. Valves, etc.

  • Sink faucet repair/replacement

  • Unclog drain lines using machines/plunger

  • Hot water heating systems

Electrical

  • Motor replacement

  • Controls troubleshooting & repair

  • Load center/breaker replacement

  • Install/replace Switches, timers photo cells 

  • Interpret electrical blue prints/schematics

  • Replace ballasts

  • Replace light bulb sockets

  • Operation of emergency generator

Carpentry

  • Build walls, partitions, framing, drywall 

  • Repair furniture

  • Repair roofing

  • Install suspended ceilings

  • Hang doors 

  • Carpet, floor & wall title installation

  • Install wall vinyl

  • Work with masonary materials

Painting

  • Interior & exterior painting

  • Sanding, stripping, and all preparation

  • Match paints and purchase maintain inventory

  • Caulking/sealing/printing

  • Drywall finishing

  • Use spray machines

Misc. Skills

  • Welding – arc, mig, tig

  • Roof repair

  • Erect tents, fencing, make shift provisions

General Maintenance

  • Make ready checklist items

  • Door hardware replacement/repair

  • Room/public space calls

  • Ceiling tile replacement

  • Move furniture

  • Pressure furniture

  • Pressure washing

  • Pool maintenance – chemical control \ 

Landscaping

  • Install plants, mulch, soil 

  • Water feature maintenance

  • Irrigation system maintenance & repair

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell.
  •  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer and review priorities and special projects.
  • Organize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignments.
  • Maintain for the proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work areas.
  • Handle chemicals according to hotel requirements.
  • Ensure security of any assigned keys and beeper.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all hotel and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving and review status of assignments and any follow-up with Chief Engineer.
  • Assist with any special projects assigned.
  • Other duties assigned
