The Independent School is Hiring a 2024-2025 Middle School Teaching Faculty - English Near Wichita, KS

This position begins August 1, 2024

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School English Teacher to join our team of educators. The Middle School English Teacher will be responsible for fostering a love of literature, language, and writing in students while developing their critical thinking, communication, and literacy skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, creative in lesson planning, and committed to creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment where every student can thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive English language arts curriculum for middle school students, encompassing literature, grammar, writing, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and interests of students, while aligning with educational standards and learning objectives.
  • Foster a love of reading by selecting diverse and culturally relevant texts that appeal to students' interests and experiences, and facilitate meaningful discussions and analysis.
  • Provide instruction in grammar, vocabulary, and writing mechanics, and guide students in developing their writing skills through various genres, including narratives, essays, poetry, and research projects.
  • Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance instruction, facilitate research, and promote digital literacy skills.
  • Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, and provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their growth and development.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, develop interdisciplinary connections, and support the overall mission and goals of the school.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, upcoming assignments, and opportunities for involvement in their child's education.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in English language arts instruction, educational technology, and adolescent development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or related field; (Required).
  • Teaching certification/license in English Language Arts or Middle Grades Education (Preferred).
  • Prior experience teaching English language arts at the middle school level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of English literature, grammar, writing instruction, and literacy development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Creativity and innovation in lesson planning and instructional delivery.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom community.
  • Proficiency in educational technology tools and resources.
  • Dedication to ongoing professional growth and development.
