Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Physical Education Teacher to join our team. The Physical Education Teacher will inspire students to embrace physical activity, cultivate healthy lifestyles, and understand the significance of fitness. This role offers an exciting opportunity to impart your enthusiasm for physical education while nurturing students' physical abilities and well-being within a dynamic educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive, developmentally appropriate physical education curricula that encompass a variety of activities, sports, and fitness techniques to promote holistic wellness.
  • Instruct students in fundamental movement skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and safety practices, fostering a positive and inclusive environment conducive to skill acquisition and personal growth.
  • Establish a supportive learning atmosphere where students feel empowered, valued, and motivated to achieve their fitness objectives and explore diverse physical pursuits.
  • Guide students in setting individualized fitness goals, facilitating self-assessment, and encouraging reflection to foster autonomy and lifelong habits of health and wellness.

Integrate health education topics, including nutrition, exercise physiology, and mental well-being, into lessons to equip students with knowledge to make informed lifestyle choices.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to align physical education curriculum with broader educational objectives and promote interdisciplinary connections across disciplines.
  • Maintain and organize equipment, facilities, and resources to ensure a safe and conducive environment for physical activity and learning.

Participate in and contribute to school-wide athletic events, intramural programs, and wellness initiatives to celebrate student achievements and foster a sense of community.

  • Regularly communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress, upcoming events, and opportunities for parental involvement in their child's physical education journey.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain abreast of current best practices in physical education, fitness instruction, and student wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Health Education, or a related field (Required).
  • Teaching certification/license in Physical Education (Preferred).
  • Previous experience teaching physical education or coaching sports at the secondary level preferred.
  • Solid understanding of physical fitness principles, sports techniques, and safety protocols.
  • Passion for promoting physical health and wellness, and inspiring students to lead active, balanced lives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage students in meaningful physical activity.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, cooperation, and personal growth.
  • Dedication to professional growth and development in the field of physical education.
