American Trucking Associations is Hiring a HR Generalist Near Washington, DC

Job Description

Job Description

The American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s leading trade and lobby association representing the trucking industry, is actively seeking a professional and collaborative HR Generalist.

The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting our HR team and business objectives working closely with departments and functional areas to provide consultation, recommendations, and solutions on a variety of organizational issues. This includes executing administrative recruiting activities, assisting with HR functional areas such as onboarding and offboarding, benefits and payroll administration, and ensuring compliance.

The HR Generalist is a hybrid position, requiring in-office attendance at ATA headquarters at least 3 days per week, including Mondays and Tuesdays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Post and promote available positions on various online job posting sites.
  • Review and sort through application materials to help identify qualified applicants.
  • Schedule and coordinate candidate interviews.
  • Manage and coordinate pre-onboarding and onboarding activities for new hires, including background checks, first-day communications, scheduling trainings and introductions, and ensuring accurate completion of new hire paperwork and trainings.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and serve as the primary point-of-contact for benefits-related inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Collaborate with finance department to ensure accurate processing of payroll and benefits-related transactions.
  • Administer ATA leave programs, including FMLA, STD, LTD, and Maternity Leave.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Human Resources & Operations and HR Manager to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations as well as ATA policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, with a minimum of 1 year of HR-related experience. Associate's degree with additional HR-related experience considered.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Familiarity with online job boards such as LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ATS and HRIS platforms preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint).
