The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

This position will be in support of the Defense & Veterans Center for Integrative Pain Management (DVCIPM).

Responsibilities

HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to perform duties supporting pain management research studies at the Uniformed Services University (USU) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). The Clinical Research Assistant will recruit and screen subjects for research studies and collects baseline and follow up data from subjects. This is the first of four levels of clinical research assistants and works under the guidance and direction of senior staff. 

Responsibilities

  • Recruits and enrolls subjects for research studies. Collects baseline and follow-up data ensuring compliance and quality assurance are met.
  • Performs data entry in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains database files, creates, collects, disseminates, and maintains appropriate study data, and uploads into established data capture platforms.
  • Performs sample processing, tracking, and preparation of specimen's for shipment. Maintains supplies in the laboratory and ensures proper cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with Good Clinical Practices.
  • Performs literature searches, identification and retrieval. Assists with the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations including editing and formatting documents.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Work Environment 

  •  This position will take place primarily in a clinic, hospital, or office environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of 0-2 year's experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
  • Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments; Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to wait for and walk with research subjects to the hospital laboratory.
