New England Jewish Academy in West Hartford is seeking a full-time Elementary School Judaic Studies teacher. Ideal candidates will have a degree in a related field, and at least one year teaching experience. The candidate will possess clear communication skills, verbally and in written form, and have a basic proficiency with computers.A willingness to learn more is required. In addition the ideal candidate will:
Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental stages and needs of young children and support them in a gentle and nurturing manner;
Plan, supervise, and implement child directed classroom programs that are emergent and inquiry based as well as in accordance with the policies of the school and the requirements of licensing agencies.
Promote a love for Torah and Israel and supervise age-appropriate tefillah.
Engage in ongoing evaluation and assessment procedures needed to assess children’s developmental levels and support curriculum planning.
Maintain ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom, with a clear focus on documentation of the children’s work.
Value parents as important partners in the work of the school by maintaining frequent contact and have the ability to work with parents in the classroom;
Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
Work in full collaboration with the Kindergarten lead teacher and participate in all team meetings
Support the mission and values of NEJA.
