New England Jewish Academy located in West Hartford, CT, is seeking an assistant for its growing Early Childhood division. We are a close-knit group of educators who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, and has a love for teaching. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in an Early Childhood position or have a degree in a related field.
The assistant will:
Be responsible for aiding in the overall supervision of a group of preschool children and perform activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group.
Work cooperatively with the lead teachers in the preparation and implementation of daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum and ECC standards
Be available to conduct daily small-group activities for an assigned group of children
Assume responsibility for a classroom as necessary
Collect required anecdotes and information for required ongoing assessments
Observe and/or participate in parent-teacher conferences
Provide coverage for breaks for other staff members
Supervise daily lunch and playground activities, field trips and walks
Promote individualized attention for children
Acquire knowledge of and support the current curriculum in the classroom
Support the mission and values of the school
The ideal candidate will possess personal attributes needed to develop trusting relationships with children and adults and be a flexible and responsible member of the team.
