The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the Redevelopment Project Manager position within the Community and Economic Development (CED) Department. The Economic Development Division works to drive economic prosperity and diversity in Asheville. Our division facilitates this work in the Asheville community by assisting businesses looking to locate and grow, supporting entrepreneurship, promoting intentional procurement practices, managing strategic redevelopment projects, and preparing area students for fulfilling careers and opportunities in the Asheville area.
The Redevelopment Project Manager position seeks to enhance the highest and best use of specific city-owned properties for redevelopment. The purpose of this position is to execute all phases of redevelopment projects from inception to completion, including community engagement, programming, planning, design, bids, and developer/contract awards. The position serves as the primary contact and resource for major city-initiated redevelopment projects and is responsible for managing and coordinating highly complex and cross-functional projects. This position coordinates efforts of City resources, neighborhood and business groups, contractors, and staff in all phases of planning, implementation, and management of projects.
The Redevelopment Project Manager coordinates projects with staff from other departments to align projects with strategic, long-range plans for redevelopment projects and community revitalization. The Redevelopment Project Manager requires only general direction while handling complex projects and activities. The position reports to the Economic Development Division Manager.

Hire Rate: $62,352.70 - $74,823.24 (salary offer will be determined based on qualifications and experience).
Work Schedule: This position is full-time, exempt; 37.5 hours per week. Hours are generally Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekends may be required, such as occasional attendance at evening meetings of the Asheville City Council and related meetings. Position may require attendance at in-person meetings offsite. Hybrid work options may be approved by the Department Director.
