About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking an experienced Building Safety professional to join the Development Services team as a building safety inspector. The ideal candidate would have a strong construction background in the building, plumbing, mechanical and /or electrical trades. Code Enforcement Officials are responsible for enforcing codes and regulations for commercial and residential construction projects.
The City of Asheville’s Development Services Department is composed of a team of dedicated professionals who stay committed to the City Council’s goals. The Inspections division completes over 36,000 inspections per year. Our approach focuses on compliance, rather than enforcement, in an effort to remain effective, efficient, consistent, responsive and a solution oriented organization. The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge and experience with North Carolina codes, excellent written and oral communication skills, computer skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
