Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE

The Children's Shelter Hope Center Assistant Director of Clinical Services provides leadership to Harvey E. Najim clinicians. The Children's Shelter Hope Center Assistant Director of Clinical Services supervises assigned therapists and provides trauma-focused evidence-based treatment to children, youth, adults and families exposed to various kinds of traumatic events. Treatment services include assessment of trauma, crisis intervention, individual, group, and family therapy, family advocacy and safety planning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees assigned Hope Center therapists to ensure they conduct necessary individual, adult, group, and family counseling sessions for the clients in care in adherence with center treatment philosophy and models.

• Maintains a supportive team environment, prepared to serve children, youth, adults and families.

• Ensures therapists carry full caseloads of 30-40 clients with assigned target of 25-30 weekly billable hours.

• Provides clinical therapy services for clients with special needs, specialized treatment or specifically identified Trauma clients.

• Provides face-to-face clinical supervision to the therapists to review cases and discuss treatment interventions on weekly basis and provides documented feedback.

• Participates in monthly administrative and supervision sessions with Senior Director of Clinical Administration.

• Provides consultation and back up services during crisis situations or while therapists are on leave.

• Provides diagnostic assessment, and treatment services, including individual and group counseling sessions using one or more evidence-based treatment models, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

• Writes assessment reports, treatment plans, and reviews treatment plans for assigned cases in accordance with acceptable clinical standards

• Responsible for formulating, implementing and documenting treatment strategies for clients and their families in a timely manner.

• Maintains client records in accordance with applicable standards to include Council on Accreditation, TMHP, licensing and agency standards.

• Functions as member of Hope Center clinical team, coordinating services with Senior Director of Clinical Administration, Family Support Specialists, subcontractors and administrative staff.

• Submits monthly therapy billing statements to the Senior Director of Clinical Administration and Office Coordinator by the 3rd working day of each month for review.

• Assists with appropriate communications and relationships between the Hope Center clinical team, other agency program staff, professionals and consumer groups in the community.

• Provides clinical training to other therapists and community in appropriate evidence-based models.

• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Understands and adheres to Code of Ethics.

• Reports all reportable incidents, clinical emergencies, and incidents requiring outside intervention to the Senior Director of Clinical Administration.

• Participates, as a member of the Hope Center's interdisciplinary treatment team, in monthly clinical staffing with the psychiatric team, to review client progress, current treatment strategies, medication management, and other case-related information.

• Participates in continuing education activities, remaining knowledgeable in areas of trauma-informed care, and fulfills the established agency's annual required staff training.

• Encourages innovative, trauma specific treatment approaches and explores additional services that may be offered through the Hope Center.

• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Understands and adheres to Code of Ethics.

• Actively participates in marketing of agency clinical programs, as needed.

• Ensures excellent customer service is provided consistently by all clinical staff.

• Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Conducts coaching and develops staff on a regular basis; provides opportunities for the professional development of the staff.

• Builds and maintains strong, collaborative relationships with all agency staff, clients, the provider network and community stakeholders.

• Demonstrates exceptional communication and trauma informed skills as they interact with their team, clients, agency staff and community stakeholders.

• Effectively communicates the vision of The Children’s Shelter and helps others, internally and externally, connect the dots on how they fit into the ‘big picture’.

• Proactively identifies and implements solutions that will improve upon the well-being, safety and engagement of staff, clients, and community stakeholders.

• Works across programs/divisions with peers in other groups to ensure collaboration for shared goals.

• Monitor/track program metrics; collect and analyze data to ensure contract requirements are met.

• Demonstrates the Trauma Informed Care principles and practices for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Responsible for ensuring the safety of the clients.

• Responsible for ensuring inclusion of others, assessing cultural and diversity needs of the clients.

• Attends mandatory trainings as defined in positions training matrix by the assigned deadline.

• Attends continuing education necessary to expand knowledge and maintain certifications or licenses.

• Uses outside professional collaboration and intra-agency teamwork appropriate to the agency.

• Skilled in organizing work in an environment with multiple challenges and priorities with minimal supervision.

• Avoid all conflicts of interest, real or perceived.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in counseling.
  • Clinical licensure-LPC required and ability to bill third-party vendors.
  • Approved clinical supervisor status preferred.
  • Required to be trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Minimum five years clinical experience in community mental health with emphasis on underserved and at-risk children and adolescents. Preferred experience working with foster care, child welfare, court system and poor families in community mental health settings.
  • Demonstrated ability working with multi-cultural populations, particularly Latino.
  • Knowledge and awareness of issues of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity is important.
  • Clinical training and experience providing trauma-informed treatments to clients and families with complex trauma and attachment difficulties related to abuse, neglect, interpersonal and community violence, and foster care placement.

DESCRIPTION OF WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The working environment is primarily indoors; however, some travel may be required. The work schedule will vary based on client needs.
