Job Summary : The Banquet / Cafe Cook is responsible for the preparation of the employee meals, including cold & hot food preparation.

Along with assisting the banquet department team in ensurin support during busy events. We are looking for a motivate individual who can fully own their area meet deadlines and work independely if needed.

Job duties and responsibilities :

• Prepare all items that are food related for the cafeteria, both hot and cold.
• Complete and ensure the cleanliness and temperature monitoring, of the hot and cold food, in the cafeteria.
• Manage time wisely and with focus, especially during periods of lunch times.
• Assist the banquet departments as needed during busy time periods, from prepping to plating.
• Take ownership of work and hold themselves accountable without constant supervision.
• Offer suggestions and ideas to improve the cafeteria food and operations.
• Stock and maintain a mise en place that’s prepped, ensuring that all ingredients are both fresh and dated, and labeled.
• Ensure that areas of the cafeteria workstation are safe and hazard-free including reporting any safety issues to a manager.
• Date and label all items placed in the relevant refrigerators to ensure there is a constant flow to store stock.
• Follow a weekly cafeteria menu, as set by the Executive Chef & Banquet Chef.
• The ability to maintain food in the cafeteria that is both well-presented and healthy.
• Ensure that all tables are kept cleaned and presentable.
• Refill all napkin dispensers and have appropriate condiments in place.
• Approachable, friendly, and self-motivator with strong attention to detail and follow through.
• Communicate professionally with guests, line staff, and superiors
• All other duties as assigned by managers

Requirements

• At least 2-years experience in a cafeteria or a cook in a similar role; hospitality preferred
• High School diploma : must be able to read / write in English, have basic math skills, and understand units of measurement.
• Must be able to report to work on time Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm and have the flexibility to arrive early or stay late if business needs require it.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift, up to 8 hours.
• Must be able to use hands to handle objects, tools, kitchen appliances & pots, and pans.
• Must be able to reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop or crouch, taste, and smell.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40lbs.
• Must be able to comply with personal grooming and uniform guidelines.
