EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST
Student Services Professional IIIOffice for Students with Disabilities

Salary Range: $5,025 - $7,159/Monthly - Budgeted Hiring Salary Range $5,025 - $5,800/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the supervision of the Director and the Associate Director of the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), The Employment Specialist conducts intake services and verifies the disabilities of students requesting support services and/or accommodations through the evaluation of disability-related documentation. The incumbent will provide essential employment preparation and job search support services to Cal State LA undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities who are registered with the OSD. The incumbent serves a critical role in supporting students, staff, faculty, and community members and will assure the effectiveness and overall success of the University's services and programs for students with disabilities. The incumbent is responsible for counseling and advising students with disabilities and serves an integral role in issues of access, success, and retention.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or job-related field. Three years of professional student services work experience. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. Incumbent must possess a thorough understanding of pre-employment, employment, and post-employment services; knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations; ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with program participants and with university and state partners; work independently and exercise sound judgment; maintain strict confidentiality in all matters. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. As such, the University requires all employees upon date of hire to reside in the State of California. As of January 1, 2022 the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.
