Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
• Owns all facets of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable 
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, generates invoices, applies cash as appropriate and closes the monthly subledgers for these respective areas.
• Reconciles all bank accounts and company credit cards on a monthly basis
• Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Assists with employee reimbursement and travel claims.
• Creates general ledger journal entries and performs account reconciliations as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficient with accounting software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Understanding of US Government accounting and FAR a but not required

Education and Certifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
• Three to five years of accounting experience required.
• Must be a U.S citizen. 

Physical Requirements: 

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
