Job Summary:
Provide MQ-9 Pilot flight instruction to facilitate student’s at VMUT-2 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. As a Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructors (FRSI) you are responsible for coordinating RPA ground and flight operations including mission planning; execution; briefing and debriefing; aircrew resource management coordination; and compliance with safety directives and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Acts as Instructor Pilot for MQ-9s in support of customer requirements.
- (Pilot III) Serve as the individual receiving priorities and tasking the team to complete the priorities.
- (Pilot III) Responsible for communicating any feedback or requirements back to the Squadron Operations Officer (OPSO) and/or COR for the overall completion of work.

- (Pilot III) Be familiar with the Marine-Sierra Hotel Aviation Readiness Program (M-SHARP) and ensure all aircrew supporting this TO are properly added, tracked, and scheduled appropriately.
- (Pilot III) Ensure all Naval Aircraft Flight Records (NAVFLIRs) OPNAV 3710/4 forms are completed after every flight and simulator event for aircrew.
- (Pilot III) Ensure Aviation Training Forms (ATFs) are completed by instructors supporting this contract for every training event conducted.
- Coordinates and actively participates in ground and flight operations efforts including mission planning, briefings and debriefings and counsels with students to develop and maintain a high level of proficiency and safety.
- Ensures compliance with service guidance, company policy and procedures and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
- Performs administrative duties relative to training such as recordkeeping, monitoring student progress.
- Serves as aircraft type Subject Matter Expert (SME) for curriculum development, students and other personnel as required.
- Maintains a high level of subject knowledge, capability, and expertise.
- Performs other aircrew duties as assigned or required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education, Experience and Certifications Required:
Minimum:
- BA/BS from accredited college or university
- No less than 10 years as a Group 5 Pilot or No less than 5 years as Group 5 Pilot II
- No less than 550 Pilot in Command (PIC) hours in MQ-9 aircraft (up to 50% of that MQ-9 flight time can be conducted in simulator) and no less than 25 hours of MQ-9 instructor time.
- Must be qualified Mission Command Element (MCE) and Launch and Recovery Element (LRE) trained.
- Candidate shall be familiar with MCE and LRE instruction and able to teach students in both areas.
- Candidate may meet both Pilot and Sensor Operator Aircrew requirements, however no Contractor Instructor shall serve as pilot and sensor operator during a single flight or simulator event.
- Prior MQ-9 pilot training , specifically the United States Air Force (USAF) MQ-9 Pilot Initial Qualification Training course (IQT), USMC MQ-9 Pilot Training Course at VMUT-2, or industry equivalent MQ-9 Pilot Training Course (General Atomics-ASI, L3-Harris, Albers, etc.).
- Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) First or Second-Class Airman Medical Certificate, or a current DD Form 2992 at the GFR’s discretion, reflecting the individual is medically cleared for flight duty.
- Maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
Preferred:
- MQ-9 Evaluator Pilot experience
- 550 MQ-9 flight hours
- Last flight within 180 days
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 40 pounds and carry without assistance
- CONUS travel may be required
