Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as an Insurance Verification Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations for medical procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a medical or dental office and possess knowledge of medical coding and terminology.
Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance coverage for patients scheduled for medical procedures
- Obtain necessary authorizations from insurance companies
- Communicate with patients and healthcare providers regarding insurance coverage and authorization status
- Review and update patient information in electronic medical records
- Collaborate with billing department to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
Skills:
-Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical coding
-Familiarity with managed care plans and insurance verification processes
-Proficient in using office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Minimum of 2 years recent insurance verification, referrals, prior authorization or eligibility experience (required)
