TBR—The College System of Tennessee serves community colleges and technical colleges across the state. The Office of Policy & Strategy works at the front lines of TBR's efforts to develop insights about student success through data, research, and policy analysis. Through the Office of Policy & Strategy's data and research, TBR is able to turn research findings into actionable information to support postsecondary access and success.
As part of the Office of Policy & Strategy, the Research Assistant will contribute to qualitative research for a grant-funded mixed methods research project. This project is funded through November 2024 and will allow TBR to explore the impact of accelerated course formats on community college students, faculty, and staff. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to contribute to the research by collecting, compiling, transcribing, or analyzing data collected from interviews with research participants.
Currently, this position's primary working environment is a hybrid arrangement of remote work and in-person work at the system office in Nashville. While there are no plans to change this at this time, the employer reserves the right to change this in the future. Travel required to the system office is non-reimbursed.
Responsibilities:
Assist in conducting research by compiling or analyzing data collected from interviews with participants in a research study.
Assist with project management through file management, transcription, and tracking progress on a research project.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Ability to assist with project management for a large-scale research project
Ability to handle confidential data with integrity
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Professional, trustworthy, and able to work collaboratively in a team and independently
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or progress toward a Bachelor's degree
Familiarity with research, data analysis, or education policy
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree or progress toward a graduate degree in education policy or related studies
Experience with qualitative research or data analysis
Experience with policy and research studies
