Summary: Will have a thorough knowledge and be responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k), COBRA, and processing leaves of absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes.
  • Has good working knowledge of self-insured plans and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, and FMLA.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absence/disabilities.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
  • Assists with the open enrollment process.
  • Administers the tuition reimbursement program.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve the efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole and improve the employees’ experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy; and organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Able to be resourceful, have a problem-solving aptitude, and have a thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of HR files and records.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree or equivalent in HR from a 2-year college or technical school; and 5 years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university in HR, Business, or a related field.

Language Skills: Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Mathematical Skills: Must be able to perform basic mathematical equations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, use of whole numbers, and percentage and decimals.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, the individual should have superior knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and be comfortable learning new technology systems as needed.

The employee occasionally must stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, use a keyboard, and reach with arms and hands. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described herein represent those an employee encounters while performing this job’s essential functions. While performing this job’s duties, the employee is primarily exposed to an office environment but is occasionally exposed to warehouse/shop conditions.
