Telamon Corporation - TRC is Hiring a Remote Senior Accountant (Remote $57,211.89-$66,136.94)

Telamon is an eleven-state, non-profit corporation headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina serving communities for 55 years. Telamon's mission is to provide educational services that lead to better jobs, better lives, and better communities. Telamon provides programs and services in three areas, Early Childhood and Family Support, Workforce Career Services, and Housing & Financial Empowerment.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Account will assist with monthly and year-end closings, perform bank reconciliations and maintain allocation cost pools. The Senior Accountant supervisors the General Ledger team. Additionally, the senior accountant will perform Contract/Grant administrative and technical guidance and support to management and field staff including researching and interpreting relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards. Performs financial and record-keeping functions of the grant process. Ensures accurate financial reporting and procedural compliance on assigned grants. Acts as back up to the Controller of finance department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Senior General Ledger Accounting:
*Reconciles corporate operating and payroll bank accounts monthly, assuring that appropriateadjustments for earned interest and bank charges are entered. Liaison cross functionally to clearreconciling items.
*Maintain, record and reconcile allocation cost pools and service centers including:
oAdding new org and facility service centers
oReconciling allocated costs and allocating residual balances
oMonitoring Cost Pool utilities and reports to ensure accuracy of allocations
oRecording monthly square footage entries
oMaintain multi-job allocation percentages and update project codes
*Maintain Org and GL Accounts Setup in the General Ledger
*Assist with the annual financial statement audit
*Act as Administrator of Finance's internal SharePoint page.
*Oversees property and insurance accounting, depreciation, and fixed asset inventory
*Recommends process and allocation improvements.
*Assists and serves as back up to the Controller.
Contract/Grant Administration:
*Works with program staff to ensure an accurate, timely, and efficient process for the entire grant lifecycle, from proposal to close. This entails pre-award management, tracking payments, reviewing orproducing relevant reports, monitoring and post-award management.
*Reviews grant proposals and makes recommendations.
*Identifies and resolves compliance issues.
*Serves as the subject matter expert on grant compliance.
*Provides on-going training to program and finance staff as it relates to grant administration,budgeting and reporting.
*Prepares budgets associated with grants. Monitors grant adherence to budget and investigatesvariances.
*Inputs grant information in the finance system.
* Performs audits of delegate agencies as needed.
* Prepares and submits financial reports.
* Serves as primary financial liaison with grantors including supplying information to grantors.
* Manages the invoicing process and tracks expenses for grants.
* Makes adjustments to the general ledger.
* Submits draw down requests and reconcile deposits.
* Represents the Corporation at required meetings and related workshops sponsored by grantor agencies.
* Special projects as assigned.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position directly supervises others. This may include participation in the recruitment/selection process for new hires, employee training, onboarding, conducting performance coaching/evaluation, compensation administration, delegation of duties and conflict resolution. Promotes an environment of teamwork and cooperation and is accessible to employees.
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience Requirements
* A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (or a related field) is required.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience
* Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and Uniform Guidance
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to work quickly and efficiently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing
* Strong customer service skills
* Ability to analyze budgetary line items for compliance with budget guidelines
* Microsoft Office products and financial management software
* Mathematical reasoning
* Analytical skills

Background Checks:
* All employees are subject to both a pre-hire and an annual background check. Specific rules by Line of Business will indicate whether a state or federal fingerprint background check (or both) is required and the frequency. A fingerprint background check may suffice for a regular background check. Additional background checks may be required such as the Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry, and the Sex Offender Registry.
Positions that Require Driving
* Telamon Corporation/Transition Resources employees that are required to drive a personal vehicle for work-related duties are to meet the auto insurance liability requirement. The minimum limits required are $100,000 each person bodily injury, $300,000 each accident bodily injury and $50,000 property damage. The insurance liability requirement covers use of an employee's personal vehicle.
* Telamon Corporation/Transition Resources employees that drive a company-owned/rental vehicle must maintain a satisfactory annual motor vehicle record check.
* Must have own transportation, a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
