Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician to join our team. As a Cable Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of communication and data transmission cables. This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise and the ability to work in various environments.
Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, and test telecommunication cables, including copper and fiber optic cables
- Perform cable splicing, both fusion and mechanical, for fiber optic cables
- Troubleshoot and repair network connectivity issues
- Install and configure network equipment, such as Cisco routers and switches
- Conduct site surveys to determine cable routing and placement
- Collaborate with field service technicians to ensure proper installation and maintenance of cables
- Provide technical support to customers regarding cable installations and repairs
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cable Technician or similar role
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems and equipment
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and testing equipment
- Familiarity with Ethernet, telephone, and data transmission protocols
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network issues
- Mechanical knowledge for cable routing and installation
- Basic electrical knowledge for power connections
