- Our client is only interested in looking at the resume of a local candidate who can come for an in-person interview and be onsite 3 days a week in McLean, VA starting immediately.
- AWS Architect Certification is required.
Manager's call notes
- Role Duration: Approved for 12 months with a possibility of extension; no plans for conversion to permanent at this time
- Location: The role requires on-site presence in McLean, VA, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
- Interview: One round in-person interview, 60 minutes
Candidate Requirements:
- Looking for AWS Architect Certification
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS platform administration.
- Demonstrated experience with AWS Console, AWS CLI, AWS services (Core services, Networking, IAM roles, CloudFormation templates, etc.), Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Python
- Expected to work in typical 9 to 5 and participate in a week-long on-call rotation every seven weeks; on-call time is compensated within the pay, not as overtime.
Role Details:
- Utilizes Agile methodology for project management.
- Involves engineering solutions for AWS core services and support or rollout to applications teams.
- Daily standups and working sessions for collaboration and support.
- Projects tracked using Jira, with some support requests through ServiceNow.
- Primary and secondary on-call rotations, with light on-call duties expected.
- Python is the main programming language for automation and development tasks.
Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of AWS administration and development capabilities.
- Experience with cloud formation templates, lambda functions, and cloud custodian for platform hygiene and automated reporting.
- Not strictly looking for candidates with a Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology if they have relevant experience.
- Industry experience is not critical; focus is on engineering skills rather than domain knowledge.
Job Description (AWS Core Services Engineer Senior)
Location: Hybrid - Onsite in McLean Tuesday through Thursday
Assignment Type: Contract only - 12 month initial duration. Opportunity for extension, no plans for conversion at this time
Must Haves: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS platform administration. Must have demonstrated, recent hands-on experience with AWS Console, AWS CLI, AWS services including but not limited to AWS core services, networking, IAM Roles, Cloud Formation Template, Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), & Python
Schedule: Core hours 9am-5pm, in addition to a one week long on-call rotation once every 7 weeks. Any on-call time would be computed throughout the pay period, it would not be overtime.
A successful candidate will have the following characteristics:
- History of contributing to deployments and troubleshooting technical issues in an engineering role.
- Knowledge of Cloud, software development life cycles, Agile/Scrum
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT
- 5 years experience in AWS platform support.
- Demonstrable experience with Jenkins, Jira, Git and Artifactory, ServiceNow, Scripting languages (e.g., UNIX Shell / Python)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, driven, and creative individual
- Experience with the following are differentiators: AWS Network, Lambda, UNIX, Troubleshooting
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience
