Team Georgia Careers is Hiring a Traffic Safety Resource Investigator Near Clayton, GA

Summary of Responsibilities:

TheProsecutingAttorneys'CouncilofGeorgia(PAC)isinvitingapplicationsfromcurrentorformerlaw enforcement officersforagrant-fundedpositionasan in-house Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and member of PAC’s Traffic Safety Team. The DRE will report to the Director of Training and will work closely with our Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutors and training staff. TheDRE will providetraining,educationandtechnicalsupporttoprosecutorsandlawenforcementagenciesthroughoutGeorgia on traffic crimesandsafetyissuesincluding:alcoholand/ordrug-impaireddriving,vehicularhomicide,occupantrestraint andotherhighwaysafetyissues.Development of the DRE Program at PAC also includes:

·Respondingtorequests fortechnicalassistancebyGeorgia'sprosecutingattorneys.TheDREmaytraveltoaprosecutor'sofficetoassistwithtrialpreparationand/ortrialsinvolvinguniqueorcomplicatedimpaireddrivingorfatalcrashcases. The DRE may also be asked to testify as an expert witness on matters within the scope of their training and experience.

·Planning, teaching, facilitating, and developing curriculum formulti-dayconferencessuchasProtectingLives,SavingFutures,LethalWeapon/CrashReconstruction,Prosecuting theDruggedDriver, BasicDUIProsecution and more.

·Teaching at joint prosecutor and law enforcement training sessions across the state. Pleasenotethesetrainingsmayrequiretravelseveraltimesduringthemonthandcanincludeovernighttravel.Thetopicscoveredinthesetrainingsaregenerally:StandardizedFieldSobrietyTesting,Report Writing,Drugged Driving, and the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program. Again, significant travel will be required.

·Conductingtelephone,e-mailorin-personconsultationsonanytrafficcaseswithprosecutorsandlawenforcementofficersinGeorgia.The DREwillalsobeavailabletotraveltoanyjurisdictionthroughoutGeorgiatoprovideon-siteconsultationstoprosecutorsonpendingimpaireddrivingfatalityorseriousbodilyinjurycasestoassisttheminpreparingfortrial.

·Building awareness and market the DRE Program by utilizing PAC trainings, traffic safety network meetings, prosecutor and law enforcement listservs, the PAC website and Facebook page, and other means to increase awareness of the DRE Program with the goal of identifying qualified candidates for DRE training and increasing participation and use of the DRE Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

·Minimum of ten years’ experience in law enforcement and five years’ experience as an instructor with an emphasis on traffic enforcement.

·Prior experience as an instructor conducting DRE or DUI / SFST training.

·POST Certification in good standing.

·Current certification as a Georgia POST Instructor.

·Participate in yearly training and evaluations to maintain certification as a peace officer, DRE, and instructor.

·Certification as a DRE Instructor and DUI / SFST Instructor.
