The Manager of Substation Engineering is responsible for the design, engineering and site maintenance and civil site construction of all substation facilities of the company. Responsible for selection, training, development and supervision of the staff necessary to carry out the functions of the department in a quality and cost effective manner. This position also has the responsibility for technical, maintenance and system reliability support for Substation Operations.

Indirect Supervision:Engineers,Substation Technicians, CAD Drafters
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: ED Vice President, Directors, Managers, and Engineers; Paraprofessionals, Drafters, Administrative Support Personal
Key External: Contractors, Customers, Vendors, Consultants, Other Utilities, Government and/or Regulatory Agencies, Civic Associations, Industry Associations
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required:Bachelor's degree in engineering Electrical, Civil, Industrial, Mechanical or Chemical) from an ABET accredited college of engineering
Preferred: Preferred:Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
Preferred: Licenses/Certificatios
Preferred:Professional Engineering License in the State of Florida
Experience:
Required:Required:Minimum of 7 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of: experience in the electrical utility field with a working knowledge of transmission, substation and distribution systems.
Preferred:Preferred:Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience in Substation Engineering or Operations
Supervisory Supervisory Experience:
Required:Required:Minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience
Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required:Required:Good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; The ability to effectively motivate individuals to meet organizational goals and personal development needs; Basic knowledge of Electric Delivery systems, engineering principals, materials and their applications; Knowledge of work management systems, project management, budgeting and forecasting of costs; Ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process related problems.
Preferred: Preferred:Knowledge of substation processes, operating procedures and materials.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is mostly in a normal office environment but can spend an hour or more on any given day in the field at substations or in the stores yard to gather data, work with crews, etc. Some overtime and/or weekend work may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
Working in substations requires walking on uneven surfaces (granite rock, limestone roadways and grass areas).
