Job Overview:

The Accounting Manager will lead and oversee the accounting department, functioning as the controller for GBC Food Services, LLC. This role is pivotal in managing the company’s financial accounting systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The candidate must have extensive experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, with a strong preference for proficiency in NetSuite.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Direct and oversee the accounting department staff.
• Mentor accounting team members and support their professional development and goals.
• Set department and individual goals for team members. Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including billing, accounts receivable, franchise accounting, inventory, accounts payable, and general ledger.
• Implement and maintain a system of internal controls that will ensure company assets are adequately safeguarded.
• Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, and special analyses.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly and year-end close processes.
• Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
• Coordinate with the external tax firm and/or prepare tax schedules, returns, and information. Ensure the timing filing of all state and local sales & use and excise taxes.
• Manage the budget reporting process, including analysis and reporting variances of actuals versus budget.
• Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
• Leverage the NetSuite ERP to improve processes and implement automation focus solutions into day-to-day accounting tasks.

Competencies:

• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent understanding of GAAP, financial reporting and financial analysis.
• Expertise in ERP systems, particularly NetSuite.
• Proficient in data analysis and financial forecasting.
• Experience with state taxes in a multi-state environment.
• Demonstrate a track record of business process improvement producing tangible efficiencies and automations.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or CMA preferred.
• A minimum of five years of accounting experience, with at least three years in a managerial role.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
